Completion of ancillary tasks and Evaluatons

Our ancillary tasks along with our evaluations are now all complete and can be viewed on our individual blogs.

Finish editing and starting ancilary tasks

We have now finished our editing and happy with the video we have made. The video will now be posted onto youtube to see if it gets any feedback, positive or negative. We will also get feedback from our class and our teachers to see what they think about our music video. We will then use the feedback in our evaluations. Next we will have to complete the ancillary tasks which will to create an album covr, front and back and its contents along with an advertisement for the album. We have decided that we shall do an album cover, front and back aswell as an advert each and collectively choose the one we like the most to be are final ancillary completed task.

Editing progress

We have now finished our filming and our confident and pleased with the footage and amount of film we have got and are now editing the footage into a music video. We have got approximately 40 minutes of film we must condense into a 3 minute video. We are using imovie to create our movie which none of us have used before so will take some time to adapt to the software.

Filming progress

The filming of the video has hit predicted delays such as the christmas holiday period and the absence of a group member as they were on holiday for a week but also delays that could not be predicted such as not to long ago some of the macs that the class were using for their coursework were stolen which led to the rest being out of bounds for a couple of week and also the extreme wheather that hit our area such as several inches of snow and extremely cold temperatures. These all delayed our filming and progress untill the wheather had improved so we could film and the situation with the macs had been solved by the sixth form for us to be allowed to use the few remaining once again.

final ideas before filming

We have decided to stick with many of our initial ideas in that the video will be slightly tongue in cheek and of a thief wondering around in a number of locations looking lonely and depressed. We took up the idea of a performance clip with a short clip of guitar playing at the very beginning of the video but decided against lip syncing. A new idea that we came up with is that during a part of the video we will introduce a friend to the theif who will be dressed in an orange jumpsuit like the stereo-typical jail costumes and the two will develop a friendly relationship throughout this part of the video and will e shown with the two playing at the park, playing sports, having fun etc.

Kasabian's Star Image

This is a collection of images of the band Kasabian; it shows there image, and how it has been over the years.

As you can see it has changed very little from when they set out, it has just become a little more modern. This shows their commitment to what they are doing and how they are doing it.

There is no difference between what they wear on and off stage which highlights the fact that they are not selling themselves as something that they are not normally.

Initial Ideas

We are planning to make the video a little bit 'tongue in cheek' and maybe involve a thief to reflect the song title. The song lyrics portray a lot of colourful imagery and also give us an option to take a several meanings from them if we wish to. Our video will probably be a narrative type and will be shot in urban areas. Our main concept is of a sad, lonely thief wandering around town feeling sorry for himself. We may also do some shots in a pub with the thief surrounded by happy people. We might also have some kind of performance aspect in the video and also some lip synching. This song has a good part in it which we can create an effective lip synching clip.

Kasabian - Thick as Thieves

We have chosen the song Thick as Thieves by Kasabian. We decided upon using a song by Kasabian quite quickly, but then considered several of the lesser known tracks from their latest album before settling on Thick as Thieves. The song gave us clear concepts to put in our video and also gave us the option to take literal meaning from the lyrics.

Work Proportion

We have decided to split the work fairly evenly throughout the assignment. We have set a minimum video research amount of 6 videos with at least one of these being an in depth analysis. We will have regular chats to discuss what we want to do next and find out what each of us have been doing. This will avoid us reproducing the same work and allow us to get a lot more done.
